Swing gate with an arm operator and a wall-mounted control box

All-O-Matic SW-350DC PRO Repair & Retrofit — Southern California

A brushless DC swing operator for heavy leaves, designed and assembled in Van Nuys.

The All-O-Matic SW-350DC PRO is a 24V brushless DC swing gate operator, rated for gates up to 2,000 lb on the ½ HP model and 2,500 lb on the 1 HP, and up to 22 ft long. We diagnose and repair SW-350DC PRO operators and their ALL-BLDC PRO board, including ones we didn't install, starting with what the board's lights and event log say.

01 — SYMPTOMS
6 COMMON FAULTS

Is your All-O-Matic SW-350DC PRO doing this?

SYMPTOM
LIKELY CAUSE
WHAT WE DO
SYMPTOMGate reverses on the way closed, then shuts down with the ALARM light on.
LIKELY CAUSEThe built-in obstruction sensing (ERD) reverses the gate on contact. Two hits before the gate reaches fully closed put the operator into shut-down mode, with the ALARM light on for 5 minutes.
WHAT WE DOFind what the gate is hitting or binding on, check the hinges and that the released leaf swings freely by hand, then test and adjust the ERD.
SYMPTOMMODE light blinking in a repeating pattern.
LIKELY CAUSEOnce every two seconds is a motor sensor feedback problem, twice is a motor overload, and three times means the gate is jammed.
WHAT WE DOFor a sensor fault, check the motor harness connections. For an overload or a jam, check the gate hardware and that the gate is within the operator's capacity.
SYMPTOMGate dies, opens or locks closed when the power is out.
LIKELY CAUSEThe two 12V 7Ah backup batteries are low, turned off or disconnected (the LOW-BATTERY light is on), or the dip switches are set for a different power-loss behavior than you expect.
WHAT WE DOTest and replace the batteries, check charging, and set the behavior you want: open before the battery drains, stay closed, or open automatically after a power loss.
SYMPTOMGate stops short or runs past open or closed.
LIKELY CAUSEThe mechanical limit switches and cams have moved or worn.
WHAT WE DORe-set the limit cams to the gate's open and closed positions and run a full test cycle.
SYMPTOMGate will not close, and the event log shows MON-CLOSE FLT.
LIKELY CAUSEA fault on the monitored close input: the photo eye or edge on the close side is misaligned or has failed.
WHAT WE DOAlign or replace the entrapment device, then test every monitored input.
SYMPTOMOn a double gate, one leaf moves and the other does not.
LIKELY CAUSEThe primary and secondary operators, paired wirelessly or hard-wired, have lost their connection, or the secondary has a fault of its own.
WHAT WE DOCheck the secondary's board and wiring, then re-pair the two operators and test both leaves.

02 — DIAGNOSTICS
FROM THE MANUAL

Diagnostic notes

MODE light blinks once every two seconds: a problem with the motor sensor feedback.

MODE light blinks twice every two seconds: motor overload detected.

MODE light blinks three times every two seconds: the gate is jammed.

ALARM light on for 5 minutes: the operator shut down after the gate hit an obstruction twice before reaching fully closed.

AC/PWR ON light blinking about every half second: the main board fuse is blown.

LOW-BATTERY light on: the batteries are low, turned off or disconnected.

Event log MOTOR SF: motor sensor fault. Check the motor harness connections.

Event log MOTOR OL: motor overload. Check the gate hardware and the operator's capacity.

Event log FUSE BLOWN: motor fuse blown. Replace the fuse on the main board.

Event log EEPROM ERROR: processor error. Replace the board.

Event log MON-CLOSE FLT: fault on the monitored close input. Check the entrapment device alignment and function.

03 — REPAIR OR REPLACE
THE HONEST CALL

Repair or replace your SW-350DC PRO?

Most SW-350DC PRO faults are repairable. The board's lights and event log name the fault, and the board, batteries, limit switches, arm and fuse are separate parts. Replacement makes sense when the gearbox or motor has failed out of warranty late in the unit's life, or when the gate is beyond the operator's rating: 2,000 lb on the ½ HP model, 2,500 lb on the 1 HP, and 22 ft long.

Retrofit options

For gates beyond that rating, All-O-Matic's SW-375DC PRO is rated to 5,000 lb and 30 ft. Older AC swing operators, including the discontinued SW-350 AC, retrofit to the DC PRO model, which has battery backup built in. We confirm the gate's weight and length and the mounting pad on site first.

Parts availability

The SW-350DC PRO is a current All-O-Matic product, from a manufacturer based in Van Nuys. We confirm the board, battery or limit part for your unit before we schedule the repair.

04 — COST
5 FACTORS

What drives the cost

Scoped to your property, not a flat per-item rate. These are the factors that move the number, in the order they usually matter. The estimate is free.

FACTOR
WHY IT MATTERS
Fault type
A limit re-set or a new fuse costs less than a failed board or motor.
Warranty
All-O-Matic covers circuitry, motor, gearbox and workmanship on registered units for 7 years residential and 5 commercial. Labor is not covered.
Batteries
Worn backup batteries are a common add-on to an otherwise small repair.
Safety devices
A failed photo eye or edge on a monitored input has to be replaced, not bypassed.
Number of leaves
A double gate has two operators to diagnose and pair.

All-O-Matic SW-350DC PRO FAQs

Who repairs All-O-Matic SW-350DC PRO gate operators near me?

Veritas Access Solutions repairs All-O-Matic SW-350DC PRO operators across Los Angeles, Ventura and Kern counties, including operators another company installed. We read the board's lights and event log, diagnose on site and give you a written diagnosis before any work. Call 661-605-3266, or text a photo of the operator.

Why does my SW-350DC PRO gate reverse and then stop?

The built-in obstruction sensing (ERD) reverses the gate when it makes contact. If it hits an obstruction twice before reaching fully closed, the operator shuts down and the ALARM light stays on for 5 minutes. Find what the gate is hitting or binding on before resetting it.

Should I repair or replace my SW-350DC PRO?

Repair, in most cases. The board, batteries, limit switches, arm and fuse are separate parts, and many units are still under warranty. Replace it when the gearbox or motor has failed out of warranty late in its life, or the gate is beyond its rating of 2,000 to 2,500 lb and 22 ft.

What happens to an SW-350DC PRO in a power outage?

It runs on two built-in 12V 7Ah batteries, rated for up to 250 cycles. Dip switches set what happens as the battery runs down: fail-safe opens the gate before the battery drains, fail-secure locks it closed, and auto-open opens it 45 seconds after power is lost.

How do I open my SW-350DC PRO gate by hand?

Turn the operator power off, push the foot pedal down and move it to the left to lock it down, then push the gate open. The foot pedal has a kill switch, so the operator stays disabled while the pedal is down.

Can you service an SW-350DC PRO another company installed?

Yes. We check the board, limits, batteries, safety devices and primary-secondary pairing before quoting, whoever installed it.

What does All-O-Matic SW-350DC PRO repair cost?

It depends on the fault, whether the part is under warranty, the condition of the batteries and whether it is a single or double gate. We price after an on-site diagnosis rather than over the phone, and the estimate is free.
