Height alone stops almost nobody — what makes a fence anti-climb is whether there's anything to grip, stand on, or cut through quietly. We spec against how fences actually fail: infill with no hand-hold, no horizontal rail on the outside face, footings sized for the soil, and a crown that denies a grip.
In the City of Los Angeles, LADBS permits perimeter work and the height rules are tight: its fence bulletin (P/BC 2023-002) caps a fence in the required front yard at 3½ feet in R zones and 6 feet in A and RA zones, allows 8 feet at the side and rear on lots at least 40 feet wide outside the Hillside Area (6 feet otherwise), and up to 8 feet in a required yard takes City Planning approval. Parcels in the Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone carry LAFD brush clearance, and a gate across a private street or access road LAFD requires must meet its gate rules, and stretches of the Westside and the coastal canyons fall under separate specific-plan or Coastal review. We pull the parcel's zoning and overlays before drawing a line.
LA fencing is anti-climb lines around warehouses and yards, block walls and ornamental steel on hillside estates, and street-facing fencing held to the 42-inch front-yard cap unless a variance is in hand. We pull the parcel's zoning before drawing a line.
Fabricated in our own shop and drawn for the specific line before installation.
Grade, soil, sightlines and where someone would actually try it.
Heights, post spacing, infill and topping, approved before steel is cut.
Panels welded and finished in our shop.
Footings poured, panels hung, conduit run for future cameras.
Scoped to your property, not a flat per-item rate. These are the factors that move the number, in the order they usually matter.
Mesh apertures too small for fingers or boot toes, no horizontal rail on the outside face, and a crown that denies a hand-hold. Height alone stops almost nobody.
Yes. Vehicle impact, storm damage, rusted posts and sagging panels — we splice into the existing run and match the finish.
Yes, and it's far cheaper to plan for it. We run conduit along the line while the trench is open.
