Most camera systems fail at the only moment they matter: the footage exists, and it's useless. We design coverage backward from what you'd actually need to hand an investigator — identification at the entry, detection along the line — and mount for the night shot, not the daylight demo, since almost everything worth reviewing happens in the dark.
All of Malibu is in the California coastal zone, and the city's Local Coastal Program governs. The exemption for improvements to an existing home doesn't cover a significant new fence between the sea and the first public road, within 300 feet of the beach, or in a designated scenic resource area, so that fencing needs a Coastal Development Permit. Fire service is the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and the city has designated all of Malibu a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone.
Malibu estate camera systems cover a gate at the end of a long drive, the drive itself, and the ocean or canyon side of the property, for owners who want to see it from wherever they are. Recording stays on a private NVR at the house, and because Malibu loses power more often than other SCE cities, the recorder, PoE switch and internet gear go on battery backup so the system rides through a shutoff for as long as the backup is sized to last.
Walked at night as well as daylight, listing what you'd need to prove.
Camera count, position, lens and retention, approved before mounting.
Cabled, mounted and focused at night, every view signed off on screen.
You get the app and layout in writing, and we confirm it's recording.
Scoped to your property, not a flat per-item rate. These are the factors that move the number, in the order they usually matter.
Only if the recorder, the PoE switch and the internet gear are on battery backup. SCE data reported by the Santa Monica Daily Press put Malibu at about 80 outage hours in 2024, roughly 60 of them Public Safety Power Shutoffs, so a Malibu camera plan sizes the backup first, with its run time stated in the plan. Without the internet, the system keeps recording but you can't view it remotely.
The gate at the end of the drive with identification-grade views, the drive itself, the house entries, and the ocean, bluff or canyon side of the lot. Remote viewing is set up for owners who check in from elsewhere, and recording stays on a private NVR at the house.
Yes. Hardware on the ocean side sees salt spray, so housings, mounts and connectors are chosen for coastal exposure and every cable entry is sealed. On the canyon side the exposure is dust and heat instead.
Fewer than most quotes assume. Coverage follows choke points — entries, drives, walkways — not square footage.
We size storage for 30 days by default, since incidents routinely surface a week or two later.
Yes. Every system includes remote viewing on phone and desktop, set up so it's reachable without exposing the recorder to the open internet.
